If you have a copy of our DVD and CDROMs, then you would
notice this djembe was one of the stars. The only
difference from
the pictures is that we removed the REMO brand for the
video and therefore it is not on the head anymore.
This drum was for sale for $375 but since we've used
it for drumcircles for the past year, we have lowered
the price considerably.
The
playable surface is 12 inches in diameter.The drum is
25.5 inches tall. Ivory Coast djembes have excellent
build and sound. This djembe is made from Iroko wood,
and weighs 14.5 pounds.
The
head is from Remo. It is the Paulo Mattioli Signature
Series synthetic head. The head itself cost $30
and is indestinguishable in sound from it's natural
counterpart. The weather has no affect on the
head. Temperature or humidity will not make the
djembe go out of tune. It has been tuned
to a solo drum and is ready to play. No need for
any more tuning! Everywhere I take this
drum people want to try it. They are always
surprised how nice it sounds and how loud it is.
It cut's through a drum circle with ease if that's what
you want.
The
loops and verticals have been replaced with low stretch
rope from African
Rhythm Traders . There are 30 loops on the top ring
each loop is doubled up with the 1/8" double braided
polyester with a 40% Kevlar core rope, red, yellow,
and green. There are 60 verticals and are
the 3/16" double braided polyester with a 40% Kevlar
core rope, Black with red, green and yellow specks.
The rope is a continuous piece, not several ropes tied
together to make one piece. The rope is superior to
what you may get from less expensive drums that have
not been reworked.
